Are miracles like a “burning bush” just pre-scientific myths?

Claim:

Critics argue that ancient people believed in myths like the burning bush, but this was before scientific progress.

Response:

Ancient men understood the difference between natural and supernatural events. For instance, when Mary claimed to be a virgin and yet pregnant at the same time, Joseph didn’t believe that this was a miracle. Instead, he was planning on divorcing her quietly. In this story, Moses inquired into the burning bush precisely because he knew that this was beyond the normal cause-and-effect process. Ancient men may have been more ignorant than us, but they weren’t any less intelligent.
