Some interpreters claim that the Law died, so we aren’t under the law anymore.
The Law does not die. Jesus did not come to get rid of the Law (Mt. 5:17). The Law is still there. We shouldn’t try to read into Paul’s illustration too much. The purpose of Paul’s illustration is to explain that death breaks the contract of the law. That’s all. Paul is simply asking, “When is a marriage invalid?” Naturally, we know that marriage is binding “until death do we part.” Since we died with Christ on the Cross, we are freed from the binding of the Law.
