Spiritual relativism doesn’t square with Scripture.

For instance, Isaiah writes, “I am the LORD, and there is no other; besides Me there is no God” (Is. 45:5). Isaiah believed that there was only one God –not many to choose from. Jesus taught that many roads lead to destruction –not life (Mt. 7:13-14). In fact, he said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me” (Jn. 14:6). The apostle Peter said, “There is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Likewise, the apostle Paul writes, “There is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Tim. 2:5).

If you’re not a Christian, then you probably scoff at this “evidence.” In fact, you can surely add this to the list of things that you don’t believe in the Bible! However, if you do believe in the Bible, then this should make you wonder. The Bible claims to have a window into the nature of spiritual reality, and it says that spiritual reality is not relative. Instead, it says that it is exclusive.

The same Bible that tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves –the same Bible that tells us that we are saved by grace through faith –the same Bible that tells us to love the poor –also tells us that there is only one God and one way to get to God. Who are we to accept one part of biblical truth and reject another? Did God intend the Bible to be a buffet for humanity, where we get to pick out the things that we like and reject the things that we don’t? Of course not.
